New Zealand Working Holiday Visa Application Hack – Step by Step Guide

Would you like to get a Working Holiday visa for New Zealand? It’s an absolutely amazing experience and many people apply for the visa every year. However there is a certain quota for many countries and it’s not easy to get the visa.

Do you want to have a big advantage over other applicants? Just use a chrome extension – Autofill, which will automatically fill everything for you and you will only need to click on the “Next” buttons.

New Zealand Working Holiday Visa conditions

The conditions for application for Working Holiday visa to New Zealand are for every country little bit different – check the exact conditions for your country here.

In general, you must:

• Be between 18-30 (for some countries 18-35) years old
• You haven’t had Holiday Visa to New Zealand already previously approved. (The ones who will receive and not use New Zealand Working Holiday visa, is not eligible for another request).
• You have a clean criminal record. (There is no need to directly have a statement during application. You just check that you haven’t done anything in the form).

In addition, when you are entering New Zealand, you must:

• Have a return flight ticket purchased or you have enough money to buy it.
• Have a minimum of 4,200 NZD in your account (or another currency equivalent).
• Have medical insurance for the entire stay.
• Don’t bring children with you.

When to apply for New Zealand Working Holiday Visa?

Some countries have unlimited quota and they can apply just anytime. For those countries, which have quota, there is always an exact date and time, when the quota opens and it’s usually full in few minutes, so you really have to be quick (and preferably use Autofill extension).

The exact date is different for every country – check the date for your country on New Zealand Immigration official website.

What to prepare before the application?

• Have a passport that is valid for at least 15 months from the time you plan to enter New Zealand.
• Download Google Chrome extension – Autofill (detailed instructions below).
• Create an account at New Zealand Immigration website.
• Fill in a draft application as different country (for example, Germany). This will save the data for Autofill and when you start the real application, everything will be filled. (Detailed instructions below).

What to have ready for the application time?

1. Stable and fast internet connection
2. Fully charged computer
3. MasterCard or VISA payment card, which has a sufficient limit for online payments and enough money in the account (the equivalent of 245 NZD).

Step by Step Guide to Autofill

You must use Google Chrome as your browser to install Autofill.

1. Go to the Autofill extension page here.
2. Click add to Chrome. The extension will be installed and a lightning icon will appear at the top right of the toolbar to work with in the next steps.

Draft application and data save

The next step is to complete a draft of the application for another country (for example, Germany).

• 1) Create an account at New Zealand immigration website and sign in.
• 2) Choose an application for different country other than your country – ideally Germany. Attention! If you are more than 30 years old and your country has a limit till 35, you need to fill in the year of birth fictitiously so that it is less than 30 years. We do not recommend filling in for Finland because the Finns have a free visa and the application is sent without payment.
• 3) Fill in the entire first page (real data) and click on the lightning icon. At the top, you will see a toolbar where you click “Generate Autofill Rules”. If everything goes well, you will see a green “Done“.
• 4) Click “Next” to go to the next page. If the system writes that a field is filled out incorrectly, you need to click the lightning icon and the “Generate Autofill Rules” button again after the correction, then try “Next” again. You will know that everything is correct if the page in the upper bar turns green.

• 5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 sequentially for all pages. Autofill saves not only text fields, but also check boxes and date selections.
• 6) Click on the payment page to enter the payment card number. Fill in this data too, but be careful not to pay!

Test that everything is properly filled

If you have done every step correctly, everything should be ready. However, it is good to test it.

• 1) Go to the immigration site again, where you will see the application in progress this time. Delete this application with the “Delete” button.

• 2) Create a new application again for another country (Germany).
• 3) If you have done everything correctly, you should already have all the data pre-filled and you should click “Next” – “Next” – “Next” all the way to the payment page. If you manage to click till the end, you have everything in Autofill ready!
• 4) Go to the immigration site again, and delete the application by pressing the “Delete” button.

Detailed instructions for filling individual pages

In this section we will go to a detailed description step by step guide to individual pages.

Personal – Personal details

• Fill in only the fields that are filled in the screenshot below. (If you have a third name, please fill in that too.)

Personal – Address

• Fill in only the fields that are filled in the screenshot below.
• You need to fill in either email or phone.

Personal – Identification

• Fill in only the fields that are filled in the screenshot below.

Personal – Occupation details

• There is no need to fill in anything, you can continue straight to the next page.
• If you fill in the type of work, they can theoretically help you, but unfortunately this is the only page that cannot be filled out automatically via Autofill. You will have to fill it manually, which is a significant delay that is not worth it.

Health

• Here you have to select all the fields. The vast majority of you will probably have No everywhere.

Character

• Here you have to select all the fields again. Obviously, if you had Yes anywhere, your application would probably be denied.

Working Holiday Specific

• You have to fill in everything here.
• Arrival date is approximate, so you do not have to commit to it.

Privacy

• Tick Yes everywhere.

Online Payment

• Fill in the name of the person, who has the name written on the credit card you plan to pay with.

The last page – payment

• Fill in the data, but DO NOT CLICK PAY while filling in the draft application!!!
• This is the last page to fill in, if you manage to pay, you almost won.

More tips for the application

• It is good to have more different devices ready for filling. Our experience was that on one computer it was quite fast and I had the first application paid within 5 minutes. On the other hand, it did not load at all on the second computer.
• Loading was faster on the mobile or tablet for many people.
• Even if the quota is already closed, do not give up and try to sign in the next few days. Some places are sometimes released by someone not delivering the necessary documents for immigration.
• If you have some friends in Zealand or Australia, you can ask them to fill in your application for you. Server response may be better and pages may load faster. You can fill in the data yourself and export from Autofill. Your friends will then only import the data into their Autofill.

Approval of the New Zealand Working Holiday visa application

After paying the application, the New Zealand immigration will still consider whether everything is in order and they may still want to prove some evidence of the completed data.

The vast majority of applications are confirmed within 25 days.

When can I fly to New Zealand?

You have exactly one year from the application confirmation to arrive in New Zealand. For example, if you receive an email with electronic New Zealand Working Holiday visa on November 25, 2019, you can fly to Zealand at any time between November 25, 2019 and November 24, 2020.

Conditions of application directly from New Zealand

You will need to enter a New Zealand address if you are traveling to New Zealand for a tourist visa and apply for a Working Holiday after arrival.

In addition, if you get into the quota, immigration will want you to have a complete medical examination, which you will need to deliver within 15 days. You can find a list of authorized doctors here. The cheapest doctors are in Auckland (cost around 260 NZD), while it could cost twice as much on South Island.

How to fill multiple applications on one computer?

If you plan to fill in multiple requests from one computer, you need to learn how to export and import Autofill data. Follow this procedure:

• Fill in the first draft application.
• Export first application data (save externally).
• Fill in the second draft application.
• Fill in the second real application.
• Import the first application data.
• Fill in the first real application.

Exporting data from Autofill

After you have successfully completed the application and tested, you can go to data export.

• 1) Right-click the lightning icon.
• 2) Click Options.

• 3) Switch to the Import / Export tab.
• 4) Click Export below.

• 5) Data will be automatically selected. Press Ctrl + C to copy it. Open any text editor (e.g. Notepad) and use Ctrl + V to paste it into the editor and save the file.

Importing Data to Autofill

After you have successfully completed one draft application. You need to import data for the second application to Autofill.

• 1) Right-click the lightning icon.
• 2) Click Options.
• 3) Click the Import / Export tab.
• 4) Copy data from file. Use Ctrl + A to select all data and use Ctrl + C to copy.
• 5) Ctrl + A to select all the data in the frame and delete it.

• 6) Use Ctrl + V to insert new data.
• 7) Click Import below.
• 8) Switch to the Form Fields tab and check if new data has been loaded.
• 9) Click Save.

What to do if you don’t get New Zealand Working Holiday visa?
