Europe is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world. However, before you can embark on an epic adventure through Europe, you will need to do some planning.
The logistics involved in the planning of any trip are quite substantial. However, planning one as massive as a Euro-trip will require some extra attention. Though it might seem like a hefty undertaking, you don't need to worry; because in today's post, I am going to tell you how to plan trip to Europe like a pro.
So, follow these steps, and you will be able to have the time of your life in Europe.

Step 1: Consider your budget:
This first step when you plan trip to Europe is deciding the budget. This step is super important, and it has to be resolved first because all of your future decisions will depend on it.
Your budget will determine what your itinerary is going to be like, where you are going to stay and what destinations are going to be. Whether you want to plan a fantastic trip, staying at luxury hotels and visit expensive restaurants, or you want to plan a budget trip, backpacking through Europe and staying at travel hostels, figure your budget out before you go any further with the planning.
Roughly speaking, if you want an average estimate, I'll say that you need at least 1000 dollars per person per week for a comfortable trip, however, if you are planning the backpacker lifestyle, you can bring that number down. Furthermore, if you plan to stay at luxury hotels and visit exotic resorts, this number can go a lot higher.
Step 2: Decide the duration of your stay:
After you have determined the amount of money you are willing to spend, you need to decide how long you want your trip to be. If you wish to go to Europe for a week, or you want to plan a month-long getaway, you need to figure it out in this phase of the planning.
In this regard, multiple things will have to be considered when you plan trip to Europe. Firstly, you need to figure out how much time you can take off work or how long your vacations are. Secondly, you need to consider your budget, and finally, you should consult your travel partners.
Deciding on the duration of the trip beforehand will help you plan the rest of the details more efficiently; moreover, you will be able to purchase your return tickets as well, which can help you get some good deals.
Step 3: Decide what kind of trip you want to have:
Now that you know your budget and how long you are going to stay in Europe, you have to decide what type of trip you want this to be. Europe is a massive and versatile place, and you could do almost anything you want over there, whether that may be skiing, sunbathing on the beach, or exploring the restaurants and museums of significant cities.
So, you need to figure out what kind of trip you want yours to be, and that will ultimately help you determine where you are going to go on your journey. Are you in the mood to chill at the beaches and enjoy the ocean the entire time? Do you want to want to be visiting all the historic sites and cities, or do you want to be exploring the countryside? Moreover, if it is a mix of everything, that's fine too.
Step 4: plan your destinations:
Once you have figured out what kind of trip you want, you can move on to selecting the actual goal of your travels. You need to be realistic here, Europe is a massive continent, and it has loads of excellent destinations that you can visit, but if you try to touch them all, you will need a lot more time than a few weeks.
Therefore, you need to plan your destinations and figure out how long you are going to stay at each. I would suggest that you should spend at least two nights at any given destination. This way, you will be able to visit the most goals and experience them comfortably as well.
Though your preferred destinations may change depending on the kind of trip you are planning, here are some of my favorites in Europe.
For a trip to the major cities:
- Berlin and Munich in Germany
- Paris and Nice in France
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Istanbul, Turkey
- London, UK
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Rome, Venice, and Milan in Italy
- Barcelona and Madrid in Spain
For the countryside, backpacking trip to appreciate the best sceneries of Europe:

Step 5: Choose your travel partners:
The next question you need to ask yourself is, who do you want to travel with. Do you want to experience the romantic destinations of Europe with your significant other, do you want to have an adventurous trip with your friends or do you just want to travel solo?
If you are traveling with a partner, make sure that you are compatible with each other. Just because you are good friends, it doesn't mean that you are going to get everything that you want out of this trip.
To determine where your travel buddy is suitable, you need to be on the same page regarding three things: the budget, the type, and the pace of the trip.
Step 6: Plan your itinerary:
I understand that some people like to go with the flow and be spontaneous, but in my opinion, plan trip to Europe is the best option, especially if you are on a budget. However, if you don't want to go into too much detail and leave some stuff to chance, it is understandable.
Still, if you are planning, decide the hotels or places you are going to stay in at every destination and figure out which sites you are going to visit. You also need to plan how you are going to travel between several destinations in Europe if you want a more extended trip.
Step 7: Book your tickets:
Now that most of the planning is done, you can start focusing on the finer details, like buying the right cards. If you have a planned itinerary, you should also try to purchase as many tickets and make as many bookings as you can online. Even before you embark on your journey, this will help you follow your budget plan more effectively and efficiently.

Step 7: Pack your bags:
Though it might not seem as significant when considering the grand scheme of things, the way you pack your bags can have a substantial impact on your trip. I always suggest travelers pack light and only take the necessities. Everything else can be bought along the way.

Make sure you have some local currency:
wherever you are traveling, you shouldn’t wait to exchange your money when you arrive at your destination. You never know, you may need some cash as soon as you land. Though this will not be that much of a hassle in Europe, because the same currency is used almost everywhere, still having some euros in your pocket before you leave can have some benefits. I recommend using the Revolut card, too, it can save you a lot of money.
Pack some earplugs for your flight:
this might seem like a random tip at first, but believe me, it is essential. The noise of the plane can make it very difficult to relax, and the cabin pressure doesn’t do any favors for your ears either. A quality set of earplugs will ensure that you are well-rested and ready to explode when you land at your destination. You can also use some natural remedies for hearing loss to maintain your ear health if you travel a lot.
Stay aware of pickpockets:
pickpockets and fraudsters are everywhere, so be aware and stay alert while you are traveling.
Make extra copies of your passport and other essential documents:
to stay on the safe side, you should always have some additional copies of your documents. You never know when you might need them. Your bag could get lost or get stolen, and you wouldn't want to be stuck in a foreign country without an ID. Therefore, make extra copies of your documents and consider uploading copies on your cloud, so that you can access them in a pinch.
